MacDonald beats Daley in Bellator debut

By on May 19, 2017

Rory MacDonaldRory MacDonald was victorious in his Bellator debut tonight, defeating Paul Daley in the second round via rear-naked choke.

The win was MacDonald’s first in Bellator, but also his first in a while overall, as he lost his final two UFC bouts against Robbie Lawler and Stephen Thompson. Meanwhile, Daley has had a strong run in Bellator, only losing to divisional champ Douglas Lima, but more importantly, has been submitted just once in the last nine years. Therefore, even though he’s not a top ten fighter, the win remains at least a little bit impressive for MacDonald.

In other action, Linton Vassell may have vaulted his way into the light heavyweight top ten with a surprising submission win over former Bellator champion Liam McGeary. Vassell looked great en route to a third-round arm-triangle choke, which forced McGeary to tap out and gave Vassell the win.
