UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is expected to make his next title defense against Vitor Belfort on January 2nd.
The Los Angeles Times claims UFC president Dana White has confirmed the news of the matchup to them.
MMAjunkie.com says the fight has been discussed but a deal is yet to be signed.
Silva has previously insisted he would want to fight before year’s end, but requires an elbow surgery.
“Contrary to whatever the hell [Silva] is saying, he’s not 200 percent healthy,” White said. “He’s having some bone spurs removed from his elbow, which is a simple little procedure that happens, but you’ve got to have recovery time.”
