UFC president Dana White has admitted that Vitor Belfort could be the next in line for a title fight against Anderson Silva.
Belfort made an impressive win over Rich Franklin at UFC 103 on Saturday.
Nate Marquardt and Dan Henderson have also been reported to be close to a title fight with Silva, following their recent wins. But both of them have flopped in their first title shots against Silva and could instead be set to fight each other.
“We’re in this place in the 185 pound division [where] you have a guy that’s so dominant. Anytime you can come up with new and exciting fights for him [it's good],” said White.
“I love where we’re at right now. I love the fact that we have Vitor in the weight class, I think Vitor might be ready now.”
He added: “The way that the last two fights happened for Marquardt and Henderson against Anderson Silva, I think it’d be better to see them fight each other. The winner of that would be the next contender. And I think Vitor is ready to fight Anderson Silva.”
