Bisping believes Evans will beat Machida

By on April 3, 2009

Michael Bisping believes light-heavyweight champions Rashad Evans will beat Lyoto Machida.

Bisping has repaid Evans who has earlier backed the Brit to beat Dan Henderson at UFC 100.

“One thing about Michael Bisping, you can’t cut him out. Henderson is coming towards the twilight of his career whereas Bisping’s just getting better,” Evans told Setanta Sports’ Ultimate Talk show.

“I probably see Bisping getting a decision. You can look at Bisping on film and say ‘he doesn’t do this well, he doesn’t do that well’, you can take him to death on film.

“But when you’re in there with him it’s totally different and he may just give Henderson a surprise.

“So I think Bisping might get the edge in a decision.”

Bisping initially tipped Machida to win the fight but has now changed his mind.

Bisping told Setanta Sports: “I think Machida is a very tricky opponent. Is Rashad the man to beat him? Who knows?

“It should be an amazing fight, it’s going to be a tactical fight rather than being explosive from the first bell to the end.

“I’d lean towards Machida, but I’d like to tip Rashad because he beat me! Highly controversially I might add.

“Hang on, I’ll tip Rashad, I’ll tip Rashad.”
