Browning confident he can stop Miller in 30 seconds

By on March 29, 2009

UFC lightweight fighter Junie Browning believes he can win his fight against Cole Miller in just 30 second at UFC Fight Night 18 next month.

Browning has been training with Xtreme Couture and believes he is in superb shape ahead of the fight.

“Ideally, I’d like to beat him within 30 seconds, but, if worst comes to worst, we’ll go three rounds, put on Fight of the Night and collect some bonus money. That’s not a bad alternative,” Miller told Fighters Only Magazine.

“In the first round it will probably be hard to win the fight on the ground, because he’ll have lots of energy and he’ll be moving around a lot. My cardio is going to be way better than his, though, and in the second and third rounds things will start to get a lot easier.”

“I used to have big problems in between fights where I’d take lots of time off and get really out of shape. I used to enjoy myself way too much back in the old days,” he continued.

“Before I went on the show I actually thought there was no way I could compete with any of them. At that time I was just doing MMA for fun. I was messing around with it and just having a good time. So when I went on to The Ultimate Fighter and saw all these guys dedicating their lives to it and really busting their ass to get in shape, it kind of shocked me. I just wanted to kick some ass and drink beer.

“I was training and fighting with these guys and I was only at 20%. I wasn’t training hard like they were and I wasn’t dedicated or disciplined like they were [but] the thing is, I was still hanging with them. I could still deal with them.

“That just gave me so much confidence after the show. I realised that, if I dedicate myself to this thing 100% I could kick everybody’s ass. If I had fought Efrain with the training and dedication I have right now, it wouldn’t even be close.

“When I think about it, I wasn’t even a fighter back then. I just pretended I was. Now I’m the real deal. If I could give advice to the old Junie I’d tell him to train a little harder and beat Efrain’s (Escudero) ass… and drink a little less.”
