Carwin never saw himself fight in the UFC

Shane Carwin has admitted that he never saw himself compete in the UFC, but instead had dreams of playing in the Nationl Football League.

Carwin is a top contender for the heavyweight title in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

“This is not something I would have been predicting 15 years ago,” the 34-year-old told The Associated Press. “I was really hoping on playing in the NFL.

“But I love the competition here. Being able to fight someone in a cage is a pure adrenaline rush.”

Carwin has an impressive 11-0 fight record and one of his trainers has hailed his impressive punching power.

“He’s made huge progress,” said Trevor Wittman. “Larger guys tend to be less athletic, and he’s one of the most athletic guys I’ve ever worked with.”
