Carwin vs. Lesnar set for UFC 108

By on October 27, 2009

The fight between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin is likely to be rescheduled for UFC 108 in January.

Lesnar withdrew on Monday from the main event on the Nov. 21 card, due to an illness that has kept him out of training for over three-and-a-half weeks, according to Yahoo! Sports.

“I just heard… Looks like it is postponed till Jan 2,” Carwin posted on his Twitter account after hearing of the cancellation of the fight from the UFC 106 card.

Carwin believes Lesnar is suffering from swine flu (H1N1).

“I had H1N1 myself and I understand how devastating it can be,” he added.

But UFC President Dana White insists he does not believe the UFC Heavyweight champion has contracted swine flu, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The following statement has been posted on the UFC’s official website: “Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has withdrawn from his UFC 106 main event title defense against unbeaten Shane Carwin due to an illness that has forced him out of training camp for nearly a month. The UFC hopes to re-schedule the bout for early 2010.”
