Former UFC champion Randy Couture has admitted his recent fight with James Toney was ‘in some ways’ a competition between MMA and boxing.
Couture defeated boxing legend Toney in the Octagon with an arm-triangle submission in the third round.
“In some ways it was boxing versus MMA. James was the first highly-decorated boxer to step in the cage and do what he tried to do,” Couture said in an interview with The Telegraph.
“I think its probably unwise to jump in at that level; it would be unwise for me to jump into a boxing match with him, it would be stupid. I don’t see too many mixed martial artists going the other way. I think most guys have enough respect for each other’s sports.”
