MMA veteran Randy Couture has backed British fighter Michael Bisping to bounce back from his recent loss to Dan Henderson.
Bisping lost to the 38-year-old on a brutal KO at UFC 100 in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Couture told The Sun: “Mike will be back. I’ve been knocked out like
that too, and it isn’t a good feeling as a competitor to lose like
that.
“He’ll be feeling raw for a few days. Losing isn’t fun and losing by knockout even less so.
“He will have to be strong in his mind to come back from this — he has
to put it into perspective and you have to be strong psychologically to
do that.
“All the true friends in his life are there whether he wins or loses.
You need those people around you to help put it into perspective.”
He continued, “It isn’t the end of the world, it’s not the end of his
career and there’s no reason he can’t get right back up there again. It
is up to him and how he deals with this loss.
“Dan Henderson was a big step up for him, so there’s no disgrace in losing to him.
“But Michael will have to admit he made mistakes, make adjustments and come of this a better fighter.
“He will have to ask serious questions of himself, admit he didn’t do
some things correctly in there, find out why not, and make adjustments.
“Dan has a tremendous right hand, Mike isn’t the first person to go down from that and he won’t be the last.
“There aren’t too many fighters who would have stood up to that. Mike
has a lot of talent and abilities, but in this game you make a mistake
and you lose.
“It is the measure of an elite fighter how he comes back from this.”
