Croatian fighter Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic has admitted he left the UFC for a chance to fight heavyweight superstar Fedor Emelianenko.
Cro Cop left the UFC just one match into his return to the organization and has signed a deal with Japanese MMA company Dream.
He told The Sun: “I’m a big star in Japan and I can be on every card I want there. I have a lot of fans there who want me to return.
“They offer me way more fights and there is always a possibility that a fight with Fedor could occur — that is my priority.”
“I don’t see why I can’t fight in Japan for a few fights and then return to the UFC. That is also an option. What matters is that I feel great physically. I can almost say that I have never felt better.”
