Cyborg knocks out Carano

Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos was delighted after winning her fight against Gina Carano at Strikeforce main event last night.

The referee stopped the fight after a five-minute mauling of Carano by Cyborg. Carano failed to answer Santos’ power shots and the referee was forced to stop the fight.

The referee stopped the fight right as the buzzer went and this is something that upset Carano fans, but the official stoppage time was given as 4:59.

“I just want to thank the fans for all the support I have always received, and to Gina for giving me this opportunity,’’ said Santos afterwards.

Santos has become Strikeforce’s first-ever 145lb women’s champion, following her win over Carano.
