British fighter Paul ’Semtex’ Daley was delighted with his UFC debut win over Martin Kampmann at UFC 103.
Daley managed a first round TKO victory over Kampann, but fans jeered referee Yves Lavigne for his decision to stop the fight when Kampann failed to mount a serious defence.
Daley said: “The referee obviously saw a few times that his eyes went a couple of times and he wasn’t trying to protect himself.
“I would have hurt him basically, so it was a good stoppage.
“It’s my first time in the UFC, stepping up to such a great fighter in Martin Kampmann. He’s a great fighter, he’s a tough fighter.
“I understand the fans aren’t happy because he’s a UFC favourite and I’m the new kid, but hopefully a few of those fans will come to like me.”
