Florian ready to “kill the beast”

Kenny Florian is confident he can manage to beat BJ Penn in the first round at UFC 101.

Penn will put his lightweight belt on the line against Florian on August 8.

Florian told The Sun: “I had a front row seat at the St Pierre-Penn fight and I thought it was just a masterful performance from GSP.

“He was able to take BJ out of his fight and out of his game — BJ just couldn’t get started.

“He will be motivated after his last loss to St Pierre, he’ll be training harder than ever and he’ll be at his best.

“But every part of my game has improved and people are going to see that. I’m going to beat him skill for skill.

“Round by round, I’m going to take him apart. I may finish him in the first round.

“This is an opportunity for me to achieve greatness. I’m going to give it 100 per cent in that fight, go out there and get the job done.

“BJ’s proven to be a beast at 155lb but I’m going to kill that beast.”
