Franklin closing in on new UFC deal

Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin has revealed that he expects to sign a new contract extension with the UFC by the end of the week.

Franklin held talks over his future with UFC president Dana White in Las Vegas, Nevada, last Wednesday.

“I would expect I will sign a contract by the end of the week,” Franklin told MMA FanHouse via e-mail.

Franklin impressed with a win over Wanderlei Silva by unanimous decision at the UFC 99 main event.

Reports have claimed that Franklin could headline the UFC 103 event in September, but the fighter has so far not commented on any future fights.
