Gabriel Gonzaga has pulled out of UFC 108 due to a staph infection, according to reports.
Yahoo! Sports claims that their sources with the UFC have confirmed the news of the Brazilian fighter’s withdrawal from the event.
“The promotion will wait until after Thanksgiving to come up with a list of candidates to replace Gonzaga… The most logical choice would be Cain Velasquez, who just lost his opportunity to fight on the card against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira,” the report states.
Gonzaga was set to fight Junior Dos Santos at the January 2nd event.
Nogueira, who was set to fight on the same card, is also struggling with a staph infection and will miss the event.
