British fighter Dan Hardy reckons he has already won the war of words ahead of his fight with Marcus Davis at UFC 99 in Germany.
The two fighters have been involved in a war of words after their fight was announced.
“I think he’s already broken. He’s gonna need a couple of weeks with Dr Phil after this fight,” Hardy told Setanta Sports.
“He seems to be struggling with the build-up, especially for somebody of his experience. He’s 36, he’s had over 100 fights so you would think he would be able to handle this stuff a little better.
“We’ll have to see if he’s still got the energy when the fight comes round, because when you pull the pin on a hand grenade it only explodes once – and then it’s not much use to you.”
Hardy is confident he will beat Davis on Saturday as he lost his previous fight.
He said: “His record of 8-2 in The UFC is good, it’s good for anybody at this level, but he’s not had the hardest fights. Early on he fought Shonie Carter and Pete Spratt who were past their best, and then he fought the likes of Jason Tan and Jess Liaudin who haven’t gone on to great things.
“The only real legit welterweight contender he has fought is Mike Swick and we know how that turned out. Then there was Chris Lytle who he only just edged, it’s debatable whether he won, and he spent most of the fight running away.
“Notoriously he does not perform well against guys who are going to give him a fight. He’s said it himself that this will be his toughest fight, and I agree.”
