Martin ‘Hitman’ Kampmann is confident ahead of his fight with Carlos Condit at UFC Fight Night 18 this Wednesday.
“I’m coming there to whup Condit’s ass,” the Dane told UFC.com yesterday. “I’m sure he’s coming to bring some heat too, so I think it’s gonna be a clash and a good fight. That’s my goal – to make it a fight to remember.”
But Kampmann insists he is not taking the fight against Condit lightly at all.
He continued: “He’s got a good submission game from his back, he’s got good Thai Boxing, he’s lanky, has dangerous knees,”
“But he’s got some weaknesses too. I think his wrestling has been weak in the last couple of fights, and he’s beatable – everybody’s beatable. It’s a tough fight for him, but it’s a tough fight for me too. We’re both tough and I think it’s gonna come down to who makes a mistake. Anything can happen, but I think it’s a great matchup and the fans are in for a treat.”
The fight against Condit will be only Kampmann’s second in the welterweight division.
He added: “I felt lighter on my feet, but I still felt good, still felt strong. I think it’s gonna be an advantage knowing that the guys that I’m fighting are gonna be a little bit smaller than what I’m used to fighting. That’s good, but it’s still a fight – the other guy’s got two arms and two legs and he’s gonna try to hurt me.”
