Kongo claims he is the best

Cheick Kongo claims he is the best heavyweight fighter in The UFC.

Kongo is eager to prove he is the best by getting a title shot by beating Cain Velasquez at UFC 99 in Germany.

It is expected Kongo will get a shot at the heavyweight title in a fight between the winner of Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar, if he can manage to beat Velasquez.

“It’s now or never. I’m the top fighter in The UFC right now,” Kongo told Setanta Sports.

“One day I was going to have to meet Velasquez. So I said ‘ok, let’s take the fight now and see what happens.’

“I just know he’s a good wrestler, a really really really good wrestler. Just like stand-up is an education in France, wrestling is education in USA.

“People have weaknesses. I have some, but I work so hard to keep them undercover. If my opponent works on my weakness, I make sure I have a solution.

“If he beats me he can say ‘yeah I beat him so I’m famous’. He can, but it’s going to be a war.

“There’s no mercy here. He’s not my friend, not my family member, I don’t care. He’s my enemy.

“After the fight maybe we can train together, but right now he’s my enemy.”
