Lashley ready to fight Shamrock in Japan

By on March 14, 2009

Former WWE pro wrestler Bobby Lashley is ready to fight UFC hall-of-famer Ken Shamrock in Japan.

Shamrock has been handed a $2500 fine and a one-year suspension from the sport, by the California State Athletic Comission, for testing positive to three illegal steroids after his previous fight.

Shamrock was scheduled to fight Bobby Lashley in Florida on March 21, but the former WWE star will now fight heavyweight Jason Guida instead.

But Lashley is ready to travel to Japan, in order to avoid the one-year suspension, to make the Shamrock fight happen.

"If Ken ever wants to fight with me, if he wants to go to Japan and do that fight, I wouldn’t mind doing that also," Lashley told MMA Fanhouse.

"I know it’s kind of a touchy subject, but to do one fight in Japan, I don’t mind doing it. I think it’s a great fight. I think he’s a great fighter. And I know that the guy wasn’t maliciously trying to go out there to try go gain an advantage over anybody."

But Lashley insists he will not do anything against the U.S. athletic commission’s wishes.

"I wouldn’t do anything against the commissions’ wishes. I wouldn’t do that at all," said Lashley.
