Leites deserves to be criticized

By on April 25, 2009

Brazilian fighter Thales Leites admits he deserves to be criticized by UFC president Dana White for his poor performance in the fight against Anderson Silva at UFC 97 last weekend.

White criticized both fighters after what some call, the worst main event in the history of the UFC.

“Dana White  is right,” he told Fighters Only. “He is right, because if they do an event that is the largest in the world, they expect a more aggressive fight.”

“I did not like my performance because I trained better than that and I know damn well I could have done better … I am not arrogant to say that I could have won … I could have done better, could have attacked more, have been a little more aggressive, more risky things,” he added. “Now people are saying that “Thales did five rounds with him and showed no effort.”

“I am a fighter, I’m professional and I am always looking for the best performance and win, of course. I know that Anderson is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, but if you want to be the best, you have to fight the best and beat the champion. Anyway, I did not like the performance, I thought I could have gone better, but credit to him for shutting down my game.”
