Chuck Liddell was disappointed after his first-round defeat to Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua at UFC 97 in Montreal on Saturday.
The 39-year-old was smashed by Rua’s left hand and referee Mario Yamasaki was forced to call the fight in favour of ‘Shogun’.
“I’m disappointed, you know,” Liddell told UFC.com interviewer Joe Rogan after the fight. “I had a great camp. I was in great shape, and things just weren’t firing quite right.”
Liddell has admitted that this could spell the end to his career in the UFC.
“I gotta go home and talk to everybody, but I don’t know,” Liddell said. “It just didn’t feel right tonight, so I don’t know.”
“I don’t want him to fight anymore. … I don’t care how much he draws. I don’t want to see him get hurt,” said UFC President Dana White after Liddell lost.
