Maia backs Dos Santos for bright UFC future

Demian Maia believes Junior ‘Cigano’ dos Santos is a future UFC champion.

Maia is training with Dos Santos, Rodrigo ‘Minotauro’ Nogueira and Rogerio Nogueira ahead of this fight with Dan Miller at UFC 109, which takes place in February next year.

“I had already trained with Rogério and Rodrigo, they’re excellent on Jiu-Jitsu. I had never trained with Cigano, but I got surprised,” Maia told Tatame.

“He still have a lot to develop, but he has a good ground and he’s very talented, learns very fast, I think that in a little while he’s gonna be excellent… The guys are amazing.”

Maia was impressed by Dos Santos’ ground game and added: “He is excellent, good boxing and moves like a lightweight but with a heavyweight punch.”
