UFC middleweight star Demian Maia feels he is ready for a fight for the title, following a impressive performance at UFC 95 at the 02 Arena in London on Saturday.
Maia who is 10-0, submitted Chael Sonnen with a triangle choke.
"Last fight I [said] that I was just waiting, that I was just step-by-step, but now if I have the chance, I want to fight for the title," Maia said after the fight.
"I won five fights by submission. I deserve to fight [for the belt] but of course it doesn’t depend on me, but I want to fight for sure. I feel prepared right now psychologically, physically and technically."
Another middleweight fighter, Nate Marquardt, is also looking for a chance to fight for the title after a strong performance against Wilson Gouveia in London.
Marquardt, who is 28-8-2, stopped Gouveia in the third round. Marquardt is now looking for a title shot, but has also admitted that he would be interested in a fight against Maia.
"My last three, four fights have shown that I deserve a title shot but if I need to face Demian first, that’ll be great," Marquardt said.
Current champion, Anderson Silva, will be up against Thales Leites at UFC 97 on April 18 in Montreal.
