Marquardt expected a harder fight

By on September 6, 2009

Nate Marquardt admits he expected an ’harder fight’ against Demian Maia at UFC 102 last Saturday.

Marquardt managed to crush Maia’s undefeated record in only 21 seconds and is closing in on a middleweight title-fight against Anderson Silva.

“No doubt I was surprised by the way the fight finished. I expected a harder fight, a war. Demian is a tough guy, an excellent grappler but I think the thinks worked out for me in that fight,” said Marquardt to Terra.com.br.

“I hope to get another shot for the title now but it depends on the fans and UFC officers. Anyway, I hope they put a top fighter for me, or the title shot.

“Dana White told me UFC has to study what to do because Dan Henderson scored a great knockout over Michael Bisping and I got a KO over Demian. I think I have  a good chance to face off Anderson Silva or Henderson.”
