Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem has admitted he would like to fight Russian MMA star Fedor Emelianenko in April 2010.
Overeem made the comments after beating British veteran James Thompson with a first-round standing guillotine at Dream. 12 in Osaka, Japan, on Sunday.
“I want all of you to write this down,” Overeem told reporters after the fight against Thompson. “I want to fight Fedor. Alistair Overeem wants to fight Fedor in April 2010. So write that down.”
Overeem is not expected to fight in MMA for the rest of the year as he will turn his attention to kickboxing.
