BJ Penn has admitted that he is keen on a rematch with Georges St Pierre.
Penn will put his lightweight title on the line and fight Kenny Florian in the main event at UFC 101.
The 30-year-old lost his fight against St Pierre when he was forced to retire at the end of the fourth round at UFC 94.
Penn told The Sun: “If he’s so big and powerful and I can’t handle all the things he has, then why did the fight go on so long?
“Why wasn’t I taken out immediately if I don’t belong in the ring with him?
“It’s been six to eight months since the fight and at the end of the day, I’ve got to get back into the Octagon.
“I’ve got to kick somebody’s a***. You’ve got to stand up, especially if you’re a champion. What kind of champion is not going to get back on their feet?
“The UFC lightweight division is not thin in any way and I’ve got to prove that these old guys — these 30-year-old guys — can compete.
“I’m not looking past Kenny Florian in any way — my gameplan is to beat him, then beat the next guy and if GSP is still around, who knows?
“What goes around comes around.”
