UFC light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans believes he is his own toughest opponent.
Evans made the comments ahead of his fight against unbeaten Brazilian Lyoto Machida at UFC 98.
“I always see everything, every fight, as a competition against myself. The opponent doesn’t really matter,” he explains in this month’s edition of Fighters Only: Canada.
“The face might change, some may be better at certain things than others, but really, when it comes down to it, they’re all the same. The biggest challenge comes from controlling my doubts. I’m my own toughest opponent.”
The fight against Machida will be Evans’ first defence of the title since taking it from Forrest Griffin at UFC 92.
