Rivera’s team wants Bisping suspended

By on February 27, 2011

Jorge Rivera’s team has called for Michael Bisping to be “fined and suspended” by the UFC, following incidents after the fight between the two last night.

Bisping won the fight through a second-round TKO. After his win Bisping walked towards Rivera’s corner and spat at him, but the Brit denies that he directed it at anyone.

“Bisping’s conduct after he was awarded the TKO is not acceptable,” Rivera’s manager Lex McMahon told MMA Fighting in an email.

“Taunting and spitting at and on Jorge’s coach Matt Phinney is the deplorable conduct of a schoolyard bully. And like all bullies, Mr. Bisping needs to be punished. In this instance, it would be appropriate if Bisping is fined and suspended by the commission and/or the UFC.”

I believe that Bisping was just feeling his blood boil after defeating an enemy in the ring. He had every right to spit and curse at his opponent (and opponent’s team). Rivera’s team is not weak and they should stop acting like they’re so hurt by a few curse words and one spat that didn’t even hit anyone.
