Shields set to join UFC

MMA star Jake Shields has confirmed that he expects to be officially announced as a UFC fighter in the near future.

Shields was released from Strikeforce last week after his contract with the organization expired.

Shields told BJPenn.com: “I think this point we are done with Strikeforce and I think we are pretty close to coming to an agreement.

“Because at this point I want to fight in the UFC and they say that they want me and there is no reason why we can’t get this done soon.”
