Sylvia could be done with MMA

Former heavyweigth champion Tim Sylvia has admitted he could be done with mixed martial arts.

Sylvia, who will make his professional boxing debut against Ray Mercer next month, insists he does not want to leave the sport.

“I’ve done amateur boxing but never professional boxing,” he explained to Fighters Only Magazine about the Mercer fight. “Its a test, its a fight. I didn’t know when I was gonna fight [MMA] again and this kind of came around and presented itself to me so I said ‘Yeah’, you know?

“Its something I’ve always wanted to pursue and if it works out like I’d like for it too, I can switch over. I don’t want to be done with MMA, but the money is a lot better in boxing. Plus its a lot easier on your body and its a lot easier to train for a boxing match than it is an MMA match.”
