Brazilian light heavyweighter Thiago Silva admits his main target for next year is a rematch against Lyoto Machida.
Silva is hoping a win over Rashad Evans on Saturday’s “UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva” event, will bring him one step closer to his goal.
“I learned a lot from that fight (with Machida),” Silva recently told MMAjunkie.com through an interpreter. “I think I can correct the mistakes from that fight. I’m not overlooking anything else right now, but I just want to get the chance to fight him again.”
“We learn with our mistakes, and I learned a lot with these mistakes,” Silva said. “That was a big stage. … This is my job, and this is one of my resolutions: be [the least] emotional I can be, and go there to perform a job and do my best, to be the best, and get a win and put myself on a track to be the champion.
“That’s what I want, is to compete against the best and be the champion. That’s what it is. A win against Rashad would put me in the track against Lyoto. That’s where I want to go.”
