Torres backs Velasques to become the next Mexican star

World Extreme Cagefighting bantamweight champion Miguel Torres believes UFC heavyweight Cain Velasquez will become the next Mexican MMA star.

MMA are working hard to change their image from being a niche sport to becoming a mainstream sport.

People involved in the sport are working hard to attract millions of Mexican-American’s that today are watching boxing.

“It’s Cain Velasquez’s coming out party,” Torres said on ESPN.com’s MMA Live. “He’s the next Mexican MMA star. … I think it’s his coming out party.”

Velasquez will face Cheick Kongo at the UFC 99 event in Germany on Saturday.
