Frank Trigg (19-6) has announced that he has signed a four-fight deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Trigg’s last fight for the organization was four years ago and he lost two fights against Matt Hughes for the welterweight title during that spell.
Trigg told MMA Junkie that he expects to be fighting against towards the end of the year.
The 37-year-old says it took nine months with negotiations before signing with Zuffa.
“We tried real hard to make a deal for the WEC, back when they still had a welterweight division, and we just couldn’t come together,” Trigg said.
“I talked to them again, and [WEC matchmaker] Sean Shelby and Joe Silva and I got together and worked it all out.”
Trigg will be fighting at 177lbs when he returns to the UFC.
