UFC president Dana White has confirmed that the UFC are planning to host a event in Brazil.
Several of the UFC’s best fighters, like Lyoto Machida, Anderson Silva, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Demian Maia, are Brazilian.
The last time the UFC held an event in Brazil was back in October 1998 when Wanderlei Silva made his debut for the promotion.
“I don’t know what date yet (for an event), but what we’re starting to do is ramp up down in Brazil right now,” White is quoted as saying by MMAjunkie.com.
“We just hired this big PR firm. We got a television deal down there. The ratings are kicking ass.”
“We’re going to start getting a lot of these guys that deserve to be seen and known by the Brazilian fans,” he continued.
“That’s what we’re working on now. That’s our footprint. We go in there, we start on free television, and then we bring a live event down.”
