Featherweight star Javier Vazquez was happy with his win over MMA legend Jens Pulver at WEC 47.
The 32-year-old managed a first-round submission win over Pulver.
“I was happy to get the win,” Vazquez told MMAjunkie.com. “The people that know me know that I don’t do this to hurt people. I just try to win.
“I’m not one of those guys that’s a bully or anything. I mean, I’m glad I won, but I didn’t want to hurt him either. I don’t want to hurt anybody, so it was very bittersweet.”
Vazquez’s opponent, Jens Pulver, decided to retire after the fight.
“For many, many years, I was the biggest Jens Pulver fan,” Vazquez said. “Coming up through the ranks, that was the pinnacle of where I wanted to be.
“For me, it was an honor, seriously, and a pleasure to get a chance to fight him.”
