Wanderlei Silva set for February return

Brazilian legend Wanderlei Silva is set to return to the Octagon in February next year.

Silva last fought at UFC 99 in Germany, where he lost to Rich Franklin on a split decision.

“I think my next fight will be February next year,” Silva told Fighters Only Magazine. “Maybe later, but I expect February. I don’t know my opponent yet, but I will find out next month.”

The fight between Wanderlei and Franklin has been nominated by fans for the Fight of the Year 2009 in the World MMA awards.

“It is such an honour for me to hear that,” Silva said. “I have the best fans in the world, I owe them so much. It is unbelievable how much love they show for me.”
