White confirms Belfort injury

UFC President Dana White has confirmed that Vitor Belfort will miss the fight with middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 112.

Belfort will miss the fight due to a shoulder injury and the UFC star will require surgery.

White confirmed to MMA Fighting on Friday that he still expects Anderson Silva to fight at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi.

Chael Sonnen, who managed to defeat Nate Maquardt at last Saturday’s UFC 109 event, is most likely to replace Belfort for the fight with Silva.

But injuries that he sustained during the fight with Marquardt, could see him miss the opportunity to fight Silva.
