White open for Silva to stay at UFC

UFC president Dana White has admitted that he is open to let Wanderlei ‘The Axe Murderer’ Silva to stay on and fight in the promotion.

Silva lost his fight against Rich Franklin at UFC 99 in Germany in a fight that was awarded the Fight of the Night.

White told The Sun: “Rich fought a smart fight. He moved laterally, stayed on his feet, tried to stay out of range and stay away from Wanderlei’s power – he was picking him apart from the outside.”

He added: “Wanderlei’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet.

“He’s become a big part of our team. We care about this guy. He’s around all the time. He works out in the gym and we’d love to keep him around no matter what he decides to do.

“It’s one of those things where we’ll get back to Vegas and we’ll call Wanderlei in, we’ll sit down and talk to him and see what he wants to do.”
